Now associated as being pioneers of progressive orchestral rock, the Moody Blues had another life between 1964 - 1966, as one of Britains finest Rhythm and Blues influenced acts. With a line-up of DENNY LAINE Guitar, Vocals, Harmonica, RAY THOMAS Vocals, Harmonica, Flute, MIKE PINDER Keyboards, Vocals, CLINT WARWICK Bass, Vocals and GRAEME EDGE Drums, the band signed to a London based management company who leased recordings to Decca Records. Their second single, a cover version of Bessie Banks Go Now was a huge chart success across the world. Their debut album, The Magnificent Moodies was released in1965 to great acclaim and tours with The Beatles eventually led them to become part of Brian Epsteins management stable. The band continued to record a series of singles, enjoying further chart hits in the UK and Europe, before Clint Warwick departed to be replaced by ROD CLARK and then finally dissolving in the Autumn of 1966 and reinventing themselves stylistically with a new line-up including JUSTIN HAYWARD and JOHN LODGE.
This official 50th anniversary Deluxe edition includes the original album, re-mastered from the first generation master tapes, along with all the singles the band recorded between 1964 and 1966. Notably this collection includes 29 previously unreleased bonus tracks, including the bands entire July 1964 sessions at Olympic studios in London produced by ALEX MURRAY, all surviving BBC radio sessions recorded in 1965 and nine tracks recorded in the Summer of 1966 with producer Denny Cordell for a proposed but unreleased second album all newly mixed from the original four-track master tapes.
The set is packaged in a clamshell box, with a lavishly illustrated booklet with previously unseen photographs designed by Phil Smee and essay written by Mark Powell, three rare promotional postcards and a poster.  The Moody Blues classic 1967 album Days Of Future Passed is regarded as one of [...]the foundation stones of the progressive rock genre. In 2017, the band headed out on the albums 50th Anniversary Tour including the wonderful show captured at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts in Toronto accompanied by a full orchestra to perform Days Of Future Passed in its entirety plus a couple of fantastic encore tracks. This is without doubt the definitive live version of this much loved album and will be treasured by fans of The Moody Blues for years to come.

For this album Lodge went back into the studio to totally recreate Street Cafe, (Evening) Time to Get Away and Legend of a Mind, with the wonderful musicians of the 10,000 Light Years Band. The tracks were co-produced by John and Alan Hewitt, and features John on his original Fender Precision Bass which he recorded all of the classic Moody Blues songs on. He is joined by Hewitt on Keboards, Duffy King on guitars, Billy Ashbaugh on drums and Jason Charboneau on Cello. The result is a fresh modern feel whilst still retaining the original magic of these songs. Legend of a Mind was particularly important for John to include on this album as it is his tribute to his friend Ray Thomas.
The original 24 track recordings of Say You Love Me, and Summer Breeze, Summer Song, were also remixed and remastered to create a 2019 feel to these songs that were so much part of Johns first solo ventures.
With this album I want to share with you my deep cuts, songs that I have wanted to revisit, and songs which have become an important part of my life.  When the Moody Blues regrouped to record the album ,Octave, Ray was once again [...]within their ranks and would appear with the band on record and on stage until he retired from the band and live performance in 2002. The release of a limited edition boxed set of his solo work by Esoteric Recordings in 2010 saw Ray return to the studio to record the song ,The Trouble with Memories, (co-written with keyboard player and arranger Bias Boshell).
Sadly, Ray passed away in January 2018 leaving behind a wonderful legacy of work, including his very last song (co-written and recorded with the Welsh musician Ryland Teifi): ,Dadas Song, a piece which lyrically paid homage to Rays Welsh ancestry. This compilation gathers together a collection of songs from the first line-up of the Moody Blues, Rays solo album and includes the first ever release of ,Dadas Song,. It also includes a bonus DVD (NTSC / REGION FREE) which features the 5.1 surround sound mix of Rays 1975 album ,From Mighty Oaks, (originally featured on the limited edition 2010 boxed set, unavailable for some years and included here due to much demand from fans), the 1975 promotional video of ,High Above My Head, and the new video for ,Dadas Song, exclusively shot for this release. The booklet features many tributes from those who worked with him, including former band mates Denny Laine and Mike Pinder.
