...shouts out the pub owner to let his guests know [...]that they have a final chance to order a cool drink before the lights go out and the source of pleasure runs dry. A similar occurrence ended the activities of the English record label Decca. An announcement was made, much to many peoples surprise, and the long-established company finally closed the doors of its recording studios after 80 years. Although the most favourable point in time for placing a last order appeared to have elapsed long ago, we toyed with the idea of creating a new LP series with recordings from this audiophile label with which we could rediscover the analogue world at the beginning of the 90s. DECCA Mastertabe.
In order to ensure a high quality standard for our reissues, we [...]started to search for the whereabouts of the three ms: machines, material, man. AIR Mastering, a London mastering studio, which specialised mainly in analogue audio engineering, had purchased the Decca equipment. The unique mastering tapes now are now stored at the German Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), although they were willing to make them available for a good cause. Now all that was needed for success was the commitment of the legendary Decca cutting engineer Tony Hawkins, who to our great joy agreed with enormous enthusiasm to join us in our new project.Lęs mere...↑ | Decca Equipment.
Thanks to this successful reunion, a new collection of freshly processed original [...]recordings by distinguished artists will be available, beginning in November 2011. Neither man nor studio technology can survive forever, and this also applies [...]to the magnetic tapes. No one can predict whether, in a few years time, the original recording tapes will be of sufficient quality to satisfy our ears. We presume therefore that this second edition will be the very last Decca pressing. As already said: Last orders please!
